Ignatian Silent RetreatPrayer of Reminiscence

Some many years ago, Jesuit Father Allan Deck was introduced to the Prayer of Reminiscence by his spiritual director. It is a form of prayer that he has found very fruitful for himself and those he accompanies in the spiritual journey.
The Prayer of Reminiscence builds on the emphasis that St. Ignatius of Loyola gives to using our imagination and memory to open us anew to grace-filled experiences of life.
In this retreat, Father Deck will use the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and biblically based prayer to lead us through a reflection on our lives, that we might better see how God has been present and active in every moment and phase of our journey.
This retreat will be a wonderful way to renew our awareness of how God has blessed us, faithful and loving even in light of our own sinfulness, limitations and sorrows.
Father Deck has offered this retreat experience to many people over the years, and he is always amazed by the joy, peace and gratitude it generates for all those who enter into it with a spirit of generosity.
As always, the silence that marks this retreat will allow the Holy Spirit to work unimpeded by the usual distractions of our lives. In addition to the input from Father Deck, the retreat will offer opportunities for Mass on Saturday and Sunday, for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and for private spiritual conversation.
He is the founder of the Loyola Institute for Spirituality in Orange, Califormia. The Institute is a non-residential center for Ignatian spirituality that continues to invite spiritual seekers to transformation, to foster Ignatian formation and education and, in it all, to nurture discipleship.
Father Deck is Distinguished Scholar of Pastoral Theology in the Department of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University. Among his many responsibilities and accomplishments, Father Deck lectures and writes on Latino ministry, spirituality and intercultural affairs.
