In 1988, the Catholic bishops of the United States directed that adults becoming Catholic use the process set forth in the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults: OCIA. It stresses the connection among the three sacraments of Christian initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. During the Easter Vigil service each year, the elect are welcomed into the Church and receive these sacraments. If are already baptized in another Christian denomination or if you were baptized Catholic but have not received other sacraments, then this is the right program for you.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is a restoration of the ancient practice of initiation in the Church that welcomes and forms adults in the way of Jesus as it is lived in the Catholic tradition. This process is divided into stages each with its own distinctive focus; for learning, praying and a spiritual growth that respects and supports the individuals' journey in faith.
MORE INFORMATION ON BECOMING CATHOLIC
To speak with someone about this journey, eMail Rob Weierman, Director of Religious Education at [email protected] or call him at 520-577-8780, extension 124.
The Sacrament of Confirmation builds on what was begun in Baptism and what was nourished in Holy Eucharist. It completes the process of initiation into the Christian community and it matures the soul for the spiritual work ahead. These sessions are for adults who have been baptized Catholic and made their First Holy Communion.
Online registration for the 2025 Fall Adult Confirmation Class is now open (see registration link below).
Rob Weierman will facilitate eight 90-minute sessions: Sundays 1:00 – 2:30 PM / make-up class on Wednesdays 6:00 – 7:30PM
