Matthew Holter has been the Music Director for St. Thomas the Apostle Parish Choir and Children's Choir since 2015. His origins and professional career began in the Midwest where he grew up in Minnesota and North Dakota. Having been brought up in a devout Catholic family, he dedicated many of his formative years to developing skills in music, theatre and dance. Matthew holds degrees in Music Education and Performance from The University of Arizona and Washington State University.
Mr. Holter has been widely recognized as one of the most versatile performing artists, having been greatly successful as a director and educator as well as a highly sought after singer and actor. He holds production credits in opera, musical theatre and dance and has been guest director and clinician for festivals and events in the Midwest, Pacific Northwest and Southwest.
As a performer, Mr. Holter has a wide array of experience that extends from the concert stage to the recording studio. Since his return to Tucson, he has been a member of the Grammy-nominated ensemble True Concord (formerly Tucson Chamber Artists), and for the past several years he has been lighting up the stage with his vocal quartet, The 4GENTS. Recently, Matthew received a MAC nomination for his performance as Leo Bloom in
The Producers and has performed as one of the Desert Tenors. During the day, he is an OMA teacher and Coordinator of Choral Music for TUSD.
Matthew feels extremely blessed for the many gifts he has been given. His church and choir family are very dear to him and have made St. Thomas a wonderful church home. He is especially thankful for his wonderful family. Matthew and his wife, Victoria, have been married for over 20 years and have five spectacular children.
